Like most things in life, you often get what you pay for. "Buy cheap, buy twice" is a common experience for many of us when we try the cheap brand, only to find it doesn't last, so we end up going back for the good brand.

And while there are some situations where cheap is worth the risk, brakes aren't one of them.

You definitely don't need to be riding at 110km/h and grab a handful of brakes, only to realise your cheap eBay ones feel like they're made out of cheese.

We recently fitted a pair of new levers to the Hurtle Gear Demo Bike, and opted for the Evotech Performance folding ones. Evotech produce folding (long) and short levers for most models, and the folding ones are designed to fold up and out of the way if you ever drop your bike.

CNC machined from billet aluminium and finished in a black anodised coating, they not only look good but are extremely well made.
